OPERATING troops of the 85th Infantry Battalion (85IB) of the 2nd Infantry Division neutralized two Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members in an encounter in Guinayangan, Quezon on March 28, 2024.
85IB troops neutralized two CTG members identified as Divine Soreta alyas Joy/Gerbin (Medic) and Paulo Cruz alyas Isko/Ramon (Deputy Finance Officer) and recovered two M16 rifles and one AK-47 rifle at the encounter site.
The encounter is part of the ongoing pursuit operations against CTG remnants after the initial encounter in Brgy. Doña Aurora, Calauag, Quezon.
The Army leadership commended the 85IB troops for their steadfast dedication to secure the community from the threat of CTG remnants in Quezon province.
Meanwhile, the 2ID leadership called on the remaining CTG members to lay down their arms and avail of the government’s Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program to help them rebuild their lives with their families.
