“The JMCFI condemn the unnecessary police acts especially that our institution is a separate entity and at the same time our institution is an academe.”
“If there are actions, harassment that happened in our institution then that could be a violation of the basic fundamental right of education,” saad ni Dr. Felix Chavez Jr., President, JMCFI.
“Even if it happened during dawn, okay, but the impact may not be somehow not felt in person but the impact can be mental and psychological because our students are loyal, they can see that one in the social media that our school is somewhat somehow attacked, that can create fear in their mind and at the same time also it can induce stress and anxiety,” ani Chavez.
“First since JMC is a separate entity, there should be coordination also to the management of JMC and we don’t receive any papers or formal documents that there will be search in our institution kasi pumasok lang diretso sa JMC without any paper for me, I am not aware that there is a notice of search, I don’t have any document that there is a search and since this is a separate entity they should inform the management also,” ayon pa kay Chavez.
“With regards to possible violations committed by the police officers, we’re looking at for me personally liabilities conduct of unbecoming of public officers, grave misconduct because of the arbitrary, oppressive and excessive use of force and enforcement of warrant,” saad ni Atty. Resci Angelli Rizada-Nolasco, Assistant Dean | College of Law, JMCFI.
“What the police officers implemented were warrant of arrest and not search warrants and there is a stark distinction between the two and arrest must precede the search. Here, it seems like they are searching to affect an arrest so it is obvious when they conducted series of raids in four different locations they were not really certain as to where the person or the persons they were trying to arrest their locations are exactly are,” dagdag ni Rizada-Nolasco.
“Supposedly, of course, they are here to serve and protect because as I what I have mentioned, education is a basic human right and if that particular right is violated, of course they might have discouragement that particular agency who are doing this kind of act, that is why during the debriefing process we have also have to ensure to them that this particular situation will not happen again,” wika ni Chavez.
“Of course, on behalf of the legal community, were shocked beyond disbelief with the incident that had happened,” ayon pa kay Rizada-Nolasco.
