VERBAL attacks and baseless accusations against China are a sign of Cold War mentality and ideological prejudice, according to the Chinese Embassy in Sweden.
The embassy accused several Swedish politicians of fabricating false narratives about Beijing.
Some of them allegedly stated that Russia winning the conflict against Ukraine would encourage China to “seize territory from other countries.”
Additionally, the embassy said that Swedish officials smeared China by claiming that the Philippines and Vietnam are facing pressure from Beijing in the South China Sea and that the island of Taiwan “is at risk of invasion” from the mainland.
The embassy called out the remarks for demonstrating Cold War mentality and ideological prejudice while noting that China never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries, and campaigned for independent foreign policy.
Amid the ongoing tensions in the South China Sea, a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy said that the matter is between China and several ASEAN members. The spokesperson also urged countries outside the region, including Sweden, to play a constructive role instead of provoking tensions and being a troublemaker.
