City Government of Davao conducts IRONMAN 70.3 walk-through

AS part of the preparations for the IRONMAN 70.3, the City Government of Davao, together with members of the Sunrise Events, the event’s organizer, conducted a walk through and ocular inspection at the Davao City Coastal Road – from Matina Times Beach to the Bago Aplaya segment going to Coronon, Sta. Cruz.

Michael Denton Aportadera, Officer-in-Charge of the Davao City Sports Development Division, said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) that the city government conducted a walk through on March 19 to ensure that the new venue for the IRONMAN 70.3 is safe and secure for both participants and spectators.

The walk through and ocular inspection also intends to ensure that the preparations that will be implemented for the event are fit for the venue.

“Since the new venue will be at the coastal area, the Coastal Road Area, a walk through is required for the entire team involved in the upcoming Ironman, this is to ensure that preparations that we will be implementing fit the venue since it is new, unlike in the past hosting of Davao City of the Ironman wherein the old venue is already equipped with building and structures necessary for the event,” he said.

The walk through and inspection was participated in by the city’s safety and security cluster, a team from the Sunrise Events, the city’s Sports Development Division, the City Administrator for Administration, Atty. Tristan Dwight Domingo, and representatives from the Municipality of Sta. Cruz.

Aportadera said that the team will make sure that the coming event is safe, secure, and will be one of the best experiences for the participants and spectators.

IRONMAN 70.3 is set to run from August 8–11, 2024 with a new route featuring the Davao City Coastal Road, and in Sta. Cruz for the 90-kilometer bike course of the event.
