THE woman, 42 years old, died on the spot while the two wounded individuals—a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, were taken to a hospital.
The shooting incident happened in a small housing development in Vine Close, a residential part of Hackney.
The police were called to the area after reports of a shooting incident.
The United Kingdom Metropolitan Police has launched a murder investigation and so far, no arrests have been made.
UK Detective Superintendent Vicky Tunstall described the incident as ‘shocking’ and said that her thoughts were with all of those affected.
“This shocking incident has resulted in the death of a woman and my thoughts are with her family at this incredibly difficult time. My thoughts are also with the two people who have been taken to hospital,” according to Vicky Tunstall, UK Detective Superintendent.
Tunstall also said that gun crime has no place on the streets of London.
“Gun crime has no place on the streets of London and we will do all we can to bring whoever is responsible for this despicable crime to justice,” Vicky Tunstall added.
Metropolitan Police officers will remain at the scene overnight and will be in the area over the coming days.
