Emirati couple injured in Prague mass shooting to transfer to Germany

A husband and wife shot by a gunman while on a holiday in Prague have undergone major surgery for their injuries.

They will be airlifted to Germany for further medical treatment by the end of the week.

Ahmed Ibrahim Obaid Ali Al Ali and Rowdah Al Mehrizi are now in stable condition after the fatal shooting attack two weeks ago.

The Emirati couple and their two daughters were returning to a nearby hotel when the gunman opened fire.

The incident took place at the Charles University campus in Prague on December 21, 2023.

The university is one of the oldest in Europe. The mass shooting killed 14 people and injured 25 others.

It is considered the worst mass shooting incident in the Czech Republic.

The suspect was identified as David Kozak who was also a student at the said university.

The 24-year-old student has no criminal record and no known links to international terrorists or extreme ideologies.

The motive of the shooting remains unclear.

A day of mourning was declared on December 23 to pay tribute to the victims.

The Emirati couple thanked the leaders in the UAE for showing constant support as they slowly healed from the tragic encounter.
