Hunter Biden to plead guilty for tax crimes, illegal possession of firearm

FOLLOWING a 5-year investigation, U.S. President Joe Biden‘s son, Hunter Biden, is expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax crimes and admit to the illegal possession of a firearm while using drugs.

The U.S. Attorney in Deleware has filed documents indicating that a plea agreement has been reached, and the terms of the deal may be aimed at preventing him from being imprisoned.

According to top Republican officials, this case is evidence of a two-tiered system of justice in the United States.

“If Hunter were a Republican, he’d have been in jail years ago,” Ron Desantis, Governor of Florida said.

“The Hunter Biden plea deal is a joke,” Vivek Ramaswamy, Ohio Entrepreneur Running for President said.

In a statement on truth social, US Former President Donald Trump likened the Department of Justice or DOJ’s treatment of Hunter Biden to receiving a mere traffic ticket and being saved from years of imprisonment.

“Our system is broken!” Former Pres. Donald Trump, United States of America said.

Meanwhile, according to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, if you are President Biden’s political opponent, the DOJ will make sure to prosecute you and put you in jail, but if you are the president’s son, a sweetheart deal will be offered.

“If you are the president’s leading political opponent, the DOJ tries to literally put you in jail and give you prison time.”

“If you are Biden’s son, you get a sweetheart deal,” Kevin McCarthy U.S. House Speaker said.

It can be noted that the president’s son could still face a maximum sentence of one year in prison for each tax charge and 10 years for the gun charge, according to a statement from the Justice Department.

It is expected that he will agree to drug treatment and monitoring as part of the proposed agreement.

The final deal will be approved by the judge overseeing the case, who will also determine the sentence that is to be imposed.

As of now, it is not yet confirmed whether Hunter Biden will appear in court to personally submit his guilty plea for the tax charges.

According to his lawyer, Chris Clark, Biden will also admit to felony gun possession as part of a separate pre-trial diversion agreement, which is separate from the plea deal.

To recall, Hunter Biden previously worked as a lawyer and lobbyist in other countries such as China and Ukraine.

He was discharged from the US Navy in 2014 after testing positive for cocaine.

The said plea deal concludes the lengthy investigation by the Justice Department into whether he paid taxes correctly, as he had reported false statements.

The two misdemeanor tax charges stem from his failure to pay over $100,000 in taxes for the years 2017 and 2018.

According to Hunter Biden’s lawyer, the investigation is unrelated to the infamous laptop issue involving his client.

It can be noted that the abandoned laptop, which surfaced in 2020, contained explicit videos and photos related to sexual activities and drug use.

In the end, the White House said in a statement that Pres. Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden love their son and that they will support him as he changes for the better.
