U.S. nuclear-powered sub arrives in South Korea

UNITED States S. Michigan arrived in the city of Busan as part of an agreement on enhancing the regular visibility of the U.S. Strategic assets to the Korean Peninsula.

United States S. Michigan is one of the largest submarines in the world and is capable of carrying 150 tomahawk missiles with a range of about 1,550 miles.

It’s the first of its kind to arrive in South Korea as part of a bilateral agreement between Seoul and Washington.

According to the South Korean Defense Ministry, Seoul, and Washington navies will conduct exercises on enhancing special operation capabilities and joint ability to cope with the nuclear threats brought by North Korea.

To recall, in April, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and U.S. President Joe Biden agreed that Washington would enhance the regular visibility of strategic assets to the Korean Peninsula.

Biden also warned that any nuclear attack on Washington or its allies would result in the end of whatever regime had done such an act.

It can also be remembered that North Korea recently fired 2 short-range ballistic missiles after vowing to respond to the recently-concluded Seoul-Washington firing drills near the armed border.
