KUWAIT invited Iran to revive talks on their decades-old territorial dispute after Tehran said it was ready to start drilling in a disputed gas field in the resource-rich Gulf.
The dispute between the two neighboring countries escalated after Kuwait condemned Iran’s alleged drilling plans for the field.
Kuwait’s oil minister said the Gulf state “rejects” Iran’s planned drilling in the Dorra gas field.
Kuwait insisted it held “exclusive rights” to the maritime field along with Saudi Arabia, rights also claimed by Tehran in a dispute which dates back several decades.
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iran are all members of OPEC while Kingdom announced to prolong its oil production cut by one month.
