ANG pagpunta ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos Jr. ay dahil sa imbitasyon ni Indonesian President at ASEAN Chairman Joko Widodo.
Sa Jakarta ang sentro ng mga pagpupulong na dadaluhan ng iba’t ibang ASEAN member estates.
Sa press briefing sa Malacañang, sinabi ni Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Daniel Espiritu na Setyembre 4 ang lipad ng Pangulo sa Indonesia at Setyembre 7 ang balik.
Pangunahin sa isusulong ng Pangulo sa summit ang interes ng Pilipinas sa energy security.
Pati na ang mga solusyon na maaaring ma-adopt ng bansa sa problema sa climate change.
Isusulong din ng Pangulo ang kapakanan ng mga OFW sa rehiyon.
At ang mga programa para makamit ang food security.
Pag-uusapan din sa summit ang iba’t ibang infrastructure projects na maaaring ilagak ng bawat bansa sa isa’t-isa.
“There will be five infrastructure projects of the Philippines that will be included in the promotion during that forum, and all of them— airport development projects in Zamboanga, Busuanga, Sanga-sanga in Tawi-Tawi, also in Brookes Point, Palawan and there’s another one in—Basta all in all, there are five of them,” ayon kay Asec. Daniel Espiritu, Office of ASEAN Affairs.
13 bilateral meetings naman ang dadaluhan ng Pangulo at iba’t ibang related meetings.
Kabilang dito ang ASEAN-China Summit.
Asahan din na matatalakay sa mga pagpupulong ang isyu ng South China Sea.
“Furthermore, the President will continue to promote a rules-based international order including the 92 UNCLOS especially in the South China Sea. The Philippines will continue to uphold and exercise freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea in accordance with international law,” dagdag ni Espiritu.
Ipinaliwanag naman ng DFA kung bakit kailangang magpunta ng Pangulo sa Indonesia.
Sa gitna na rin ito ng agam-agam ng iilang kababayan na kumukuwestiyon sa mga foreign trip ng Pangulo.
“Our kababayans will definitely benefit. Like what I said a moment ago, the focus. If you will look at all of these, in general, the focus will be on our post-audit recovery and transformation, especially in terms of the economy and food and energy security,” ani Espiritu.
