THE Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM), in collaboration with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 9 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 9, held a two-day lecture-seminar on February 27–28, 2025, at the Tolentino Hall, HNFWM, NSRE, Bagong Calarian, Zamboanga City.
The seminar addressed pressing challenges such as the intrusion of foreign fishing vessels into Philippine waters, drug interdiction operations, and the proper identification and handling of markings and evidence. The session actively involved the primary operators of NFWM and JTF POSEIDON—including units afloat, Navy special operations personnel, and other critical elements under Naval Task Force 61 (NTF-61)—to ensure that those at the forefront of maritime law enforcement are equipped with enhanced skills and knowledge.
The primary objective of this activity was to clearly communicate and demonstrate that NFWM, along with its primary agency partners, is significantly enhancing its operational know-how to tackle these challenges.
By strengthening inter-agency coordination and building capacity, the initiative underscored the commitment of NFWM, BFAR, and PDEA to safeguard the nation’s maritime domain and enforce both national and international maritime laws more effectively.
