NCRPO to deploy over 22,000 cops for SONA

THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is already preparing for the third State of the Nation Address or SONA, scheduled on July 22.

According to PMGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., Commander of Task Force SONA and NCRPO, preparations have commenced early, including simulations to assess readiness.

“In preparation for the upcoming State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA), we have begun simulations to get an idea of the effectiveness of our preparations,” PMGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. Dir. Comm. SONA, NCRPO

He added that during the SONA, they will not only deploy security forces but also provide medical assistance with the help of public and private agencies.

“We will not only deploy security but also Medical Assistance in collaboration with public and private agencies,” PMGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.

Regarding deployment, PMGen. Nartatez mentioned that more than 22,000 police officers will be stationed at various border control points, including around Batasang Pambansa where the SONA will take place.

He reassured the public that despite the extensive preparations, there have been no identified security threats.

 “We will deploy over 22,621 police officers at various border control points, including around the Batasang Pambansa where the SONA will be held,” he added.

Of this number, over 17,000 police officers will come from the NCRPO, more than 1,000 from other PNP units including PRO3 and PRO4A, and over 2,000 from other government agencies and force multipliers.
