THE popular water fights will soon return in Pattaya after the city mayor announced that the Songkran Festival will take place this year.
Songkran, also known as the Water Splashing Festival serves as Thailand’s traditional New Year.
Dates for the three-day festival slightly change every year but it will be held from April 13 to 15 this year.
Songkran is Thailand’s most popular festival, and every year, locals and foreigners alike flock to the streets to take part in wide-ranging water fights.
The throwing of water symbolizes respect and well-wishing, as revelers hope to wash away bad luck.
Pattaya has scheduled Songkran water fight events on April 18 and 19.
