Poisonous World War I gas sparks massive evacuation at Swedish Security Agency

ABOUT 500 people were recently evacuated from the Swedish Security Service in the municipality of Solna following a suspected gas leak last week.

Authorities found traces of a colorless and toxic gas identified as phosgene, used as a weapon during World War I.

The poisonous gas emits a strong odor that can cause vomiting and breathing problems.

Eight people have been hospitalized, with most of them having experienced breathing difficulties.

No severe injuries have been reported.
