Pollution in Thailand exceeds health standards

38 provinces in Thailand exceeded the standard PM 2.5 dust levels affecting the health of residents.

The Thai capital of Bangkok and the province of Samut Songkhram were affected the most.

The standard dust value should not exceed 37.5 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3), according to experts.

Three provinces showed the highest dust levels while 41 other provinces exceeded standard dust levels.

The Check Dust application reported 217 hotspots nationwide, as of January 7.

Air pollution is a big issue in Thailand, with more than 1.3 million people to have suffered from air pollution-related diseases in 2023.

Neighboring countries such as Cambodia reported 812 hotspots while Myanmar recorded 391.
