Pres. Marcos’ foreign trips brought home over 200-K job opportunities—DTI

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.‘s official foreign travels abroad from the last quarter of 2022 to 2023 have generated over 200,000 job opportunities for the Filipino people.

This is in addition to the billions of pesos in investment pledges brought to the Philippines by President Marcos.

Based on updates on investment leads from presidential and state visits by President Marcos, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) stated that the president’s travels in the past year generated 7,100 job opportunities from Indonesia on September 4-6, at least 14,932 from Singapore on September 6-7, and 98,000 from New York on September 18-24.

Marcos also brought home 5,500 job opportunities from his Thailand visit on November 16-19, at least 6,480 from his visit to Belgium on December 11-14, and 730 from the Netherlands on December 15-17.

The DTI also mentioned that for this year, President Marcos’s visit to China on January 3-5 resulted in the creation of 32,722 jobs,

24,000 job opportunities from his visit to Japan from February 8-12; 6,386 from his visit to Washington, D.C., USA, from April 30 to May 4, and 8,365 from Malaysia on July 25-27.

The president’s visit to Singapore on September 14-17 also created 450 job opportunities, 2,550 jobs from his visit to the US on November 14-17, and 15,750 jobs from his visit to Japan on December 15-18.

Presidential adviser on Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go previously announced that the P169-B worth of investment pledges from President Marcos’s state visit to Japan have been actualized, providing thousands of job opportunities for Filipinos.

Meanwhile, the actualized investments from President Marcos presidential and state visits this year reached P294-B.

DTI-Board of Investments (BOI) Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo stated that President Marcos’s foreign trips have actualized P227.72-B in investments for eight projects, P44.02-B for 11 projects, and P22.17-B for nine projects as of December 21.

The DTI official also mentioned that the promised investments to President Marcos during his official trips abroad that were actualized into projects have been registered with investment promotion agencies such as BOI and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
