HUNDREDS of relatives of those Israeli hostages still held captive by Hamas in Gaza gathered in Tel Aviv on Monday.
Demonstrators were seen holding placards with photos of those held hostage by Hamas, complete with the slogan “BringThemHomeNow”.
They also laid out 129 hourglasses; a symbol that time was running out for those still held.
“It’s been 80 days. It doesn’t feel like our government is doing anything, like they are doing anything wrong. In 80 days I expect that Gaza will be completely destroyed or all of the kidnappers will be back home, but its not the case feels like it is a lot of things to do and a lot of things to fix….doesn’t bring them back from the dead,” according to supporter, Tel-Aviv, Israel.
“I’m the sister of Yagev, Yagev Buchshtab is my bigger brother. He was kidnapped from his home, from Kibbutz Nirim, together with his wife. And we know nothing, we don’t know is he alive, is he suffering, we don’t know nothing. And the time is over, we don’t know if tomorrow he will be still alive, we don’t know,” Yagev Buschtab, sister said.
To recall, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that the country would ‘not stop’ until ‘absolute victory over Hamas’, as it was ‘the only way to return hostages’.
Earlier this December, a temporary seven-day ceasefire and hostage-prisoner exchange saw Hamas release over 100 people – including 86 Israeli women and children – while Israel freed around 240 Palestinians from Israeli jails.
But the truce eventually collapsed, and the fighting resumed on Friday, December 1, with Israeli forces claiming Hamas broke the truce and the group alleging that Israel had ‘refused all offers’ to extend it.
