Putin meets UAE president in Russia

THE President of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan led a high-level delegation of Emirati officials for a working visit to Russia.

President Vladimir Putin hailed the bilateral relations between the two countries during a meeting in St. Petersburg. Putin thanked Al-Nahyan for UAE’s role in promoting prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine as well as Russia and the United States.

The Emirati President on the other hand reiterated UAE’s stance towards “de-escalation” and a “political solution” to the crisis in Ukraine.

The meeting took place during the sidelines of took place of an economic summit in Russia’s second-largest city.

The two leaders also visited the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum where the UAE is a guest country.

Both sides also expressed their ongoing commitment to boosting the bilateral ties between their nations.

Russia and UAE are both members of the OPEC+ oil alliance, a bloc capable of influencing the price of oil on the world market, with Dubai among the few world capitals to have maintained direct flights to Moscow since the start of the conflict in Ukraine.
