THE International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank (WB) discussed with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) the progress of various transport projects supported by WB.
These engagements include the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Urban Mass Transport Modernization Program (High Quality Bus System in three highways in Metro Manila), E-mobility in public transport, resiliency of ports and maritime connectivity, and decarbonized inter-island ferry pilot project.
Secretary Jaime Bautista recognized the nearly eight-decade-long partnership of the DOTr and World Bank, emphasizing the need to speed up completion of projects.
“Efforts like digitalization of operations and processes, protection of the environment and facilitating ease of movement of people and goods must also receive equal attention,” Secretary Bautista said.
DOTr and the IFC discussed the privatization and modernization of the Iloilo Airport, Laguindingan Airport, Bohol-Panglao International Airport, and the LRT-2 rail line.
