THE Thai Meteorological Department issued an advisory for continuous rain over many parts of the country, with more than half of the country bracing for potential flash floods and landslides.
According to the agency, the monsoon over the southwest has gained intensity, covering the upper portion of the Andaman Sea, and upper Thailand resulting in increased rainfall.
In northern Thailand, several provinces and cities will experience extreme weather.
Similarly, heavy rainfall is expected in Central Thailand while 60% of Bangkok and its vicinity are expected to encounter thunderstorms.
The rough weather conditions and torrential rain are poised to cause flash floods and lead to potential flooding in low-lying areas.
Thailand has updated its National Disaster Risk Management Plan to make it better, safer, and stronger, as the country is vulnerable to many natural and human-induced hazards such as floods, tsunamis, storms, droughts, landslides, forest fires, and epidemics.
