THAILAND’S tourism sector continues to show an excellent performance as the country welcomed more than 8.5 million guests for the first quarter of 2023.
The first 4 months of the year were an outstanding quarter for Thailand amid a steady influx of visitors arriving in the country.
More than 8.5 million foreign tourists landed in Thailand in the first four months of 2023, generating a revenue of 353 billion baht.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha was thrilled to hear about the strong recovery of Thailand’s tourism sector from January to April.
The figure was close to the 11.5 million visitors that arrived in Thailand in 2022.
Malaysians made up the top ten international visitors to the kingdom for 2023 followed by China, India, Russia, South Korea, Vietnam, the United States, the United Kingdom, Laos, and Hong Kong.
The government expects more than 520,000 tourists to arrive in Thailand from May 1 to 7 alone following the Labor Day holidays.
Last year, Tourism Authority officials announced a target of 30 million tourists in 2023 but later on reduced the number to between 20 and 25 million people.
