EXPATS who have lost their passport or emirates ID card, or both, can still enter the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as long as they follow the necessary steps for a hassle-free experience.
Being a UAE resident has many perks and these benefits could really be useful in complex situations such as forgetting or losing your precious passport while on your way back to the emirates.
UAE expats who find themselves in this sticky situation just need to follow these simple steps.
First, expats must submit an entry request to the UAE via the smart services platform.
In case a UAE expat lost his passport, the person must report the lost passport at the nearest police station; obtain a lost/stolen passport report; visit the UAE Embassy or consulate in the country where the passport got lost; and finally, get a new passport from the embassy or consulate of the resident’s country.
Meanwhile, documents necessary to have their residence visa re-issued include a completed and signed application form; a copy of the old passport; a copy of the new passport; a copy of the UAE resident visa; a copy of the emirates ID card; 1 passport-sized photo; letter from the sponsor confirming your position and place of work; and lost/stolen passport report.
For missing emirates ID, expats must report the lost card and then apply for a replacement via the customer happiness center or via the UAE ICP APP, pay the fees, and get it replaced from the federal authority for identity, citizenship, Customs, and ports security.
The move is part of the UAE government’s latest efforts to provide a seamless travel experience for its residents.
