INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day and National Women’s Month are a great opportunity for us to be proud and celebrate the remarkable contributions of women to our development as an independent nation.
For us, women should always have space, opportunity, or freedom to decide and show their abilities, wisdom, strength, and possessions that are important in our lives.
But it’s also time for us to redefine and address the causes of women’s misery and suffering — such as violence and tragedy.
Let us remember Dr. Sharmaine Baroquillo a government employee who was a victim of violence and a lawyer member of the New People’s Army who died in Bohol while fighting the rotten ideology of terrorism and toppling the government.
There were also mothers of armed teens and victims of NPA fraud who are still missing or unable to return home alive.
Also let’s not forget the mothers, wives, or sisters of police officers and soldiers who put their lives on the line to keep us and our nation safe.
We can do a lot for women.
Let’s stand together with the victims. Let’s promote adequate and appropriate education for the public. Help groups that are real advocates for women’s rights and welfare. Let’s support laws for women.
And as families, let us remember that our homes are the foundation of a safe, equitable, and progressive society.
Fellow countrymen, let us continue to be STRONG towards promoting a Young Nation and Young Nation.
Everything we do is for God, the Country, and every Filipino Family.
