DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco on Friday (Apr. 26) led the symbolic “Unlocking the Splendors of Mindanao” ceremony to formally open the second Mindanao Tourism Expo (MTEx) at the Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.
The Tourism Chief joined Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy, together with Region 10 provincial officials and congressmen, private sector tourism stakeholders, and DOT officials and Mindanao Regional Directors, unlocked bamboo doors symbolizing unity, prosperity, cultural diversity, bountiful treasures, and a fifth door of “limitless adventures” to mark the start of the three-day expo.
In addition to the expo and product presentations happening from 26-28 April 2024, a business-to-business (B2B) forum for travel and tourism players is also set to happen at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel on the expo’s second day (Apr. 27).
Aimed to further cement the DOT’s goal to position Cagayan de Oro City as a major Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) hub in Mindanao, MTEx is open to the public from 10AM to 9PM.
