ARMY operating troops of the 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT) neutralized the training officer of the Local Terrorist group (LTG) – Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) during an encounter at Sitio Binakuyan, Brgy. Lower Salbu, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur on March 22, 2024.
The neutralized leader was identified as “Abu Halil”, training officer of the BIFF-Karialan Faction. After the firefight, the 1BCT troops also recovered one M16 rifle, four magazines, one bandolier, and various ammunitions.
The Army leadership commended the 1BCT troops for their intensified military operations in their area of responsibility. Moreover, the 6ID leadership also encouraged the remaining LTG members to surrender and return to the fold of law so that it would pave the way for sustained peace and progress in the region.
