NAGPAABOT ang Department of Education (DepEd) ng pagbati kay VP-elect Sara Duterte sa kaniyang inagurasyon na ginanap kahapon sa San Pedro Square, Davao City.
Si VP Sara ang ika-15 bise presidente ng bansa at nanumpa sa harap ni Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando.
Si VP Duterte rin ang susunod na kalihim ng DepEd sa pagtatapos ng termino ni outgoing DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones sa Hunyo 30.
Sa inilabas na opisyal na pahayag, iginiit ng DepEd na sila ay nagagalak na i-welcome ang Bise Presidente sa Kagawaran bilang incoming Education Secretary at magtrabaho kasama ang Bise Presidente sa pag-address ng mga hamon sa basic education.
Ayon sa ahensiya, nasasabik si outgoing Secretary Leonor Briones at ang buong team na tulungan si VP Duterte para sa magaang transition ng mga priority programs kasama na ang Basic Education Development Plan (BEDP) 2030 na makatutulong para sa pagsusulong ng mga reporma sa edukasyon.
“Outgoing Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones and her team are eager to assist the Vice President in ensuring a smooth transition of priority education programs and policies, including the Basic Education Development Plan 2030, which can help the incoming administration in implementing further reforms,” pahayag ng ahensiya.
Nanawagan din ang DepEd sa kanilang mga stakeholders kabilang ang mga guro, non-teaching personnel, field officials, at mga magulang na patuloy silang suportahan sa ilalim ng bagong pamunuan sa katauhan ni Sara Duterte.
“We call on our stakeholders, including our teachers, non-teaching personnel, field officials, parents, and partners, to unite and collaborate anew under the leadership of VP Sara, for the benefit of the Filipino children,” dagdag ng ahensiya.
Samantala, sa inaugural speech ni VP Duterte, iginiit nito na ang edukasyon ay nagsisimula sa tahanan.
Aniya, tungkulin ng mga magulang na ituro sa mga anak nito ang mga values katulad ng pagkakaroon ng integridad, disiplina, respeto, at compassion sa kapwa nito.
“A strong, loving, happy family sets down all the basic foundations essential in the development and growth of a child,” ayon kay Sara.
“At home, parents have the duty to teach children the values of integrity, discipline, respect, and compassion for others. And we should never forget that it is the duty of each Filipino family to emphasize that education begins at home,” dagdag ng VP-elect.
