SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go‘s Malasakit Team assisted indigents residents in Barangay Gatas in Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte, on Thursday, April 18.
In his video message, Go stressed that he continues to persevere and attend to the needs of low-income communities to help ensure unhampered public service delivery for the poor.
Go’s Malasakit Team held the distribution activity at Kalawit Bus Terminal Recreation Cooperative Hall in coordination with Mayor Salvador Antojado, Jr. A total of 100 indigents, received grocery packs, shirts, snacks, and masks from Senator Go. There were also select recipients of balls for basketball and volleyball, shoes, a bicycle, and a mobile phone.
Meanwhile, the national government extended sustainable livelihood assistance, which may help open a small business to sustain their daily needs.
As a lawmaker, Go is one of the authors and co-sponsors of Republic Act 11960, known as the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Philippines Act, which institutionalizes a strategic initiative tailored to nurturing the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) throughout the country.
Apart from the assistance provided, Go offered to help those with health issues as he advised them to visit Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital in Dapitan City and the Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center in Dipolog City.
The Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 has already established 163 centers nationwide. The center is a one-stop shop that brings together relevant agencies under one roof to ensure poor and indigent patients have convenient access to their medical assistance programs.
In the end, Mr. Malasakit, Go thanked the local officials for their dedication to uplift the lives of their constituents amid post-pandemic challenges, saying, “Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng ating mga local officials at sa ating mga frontliners.
