Bong Go provides aid to fire victims in Malolos City, emphasizing the importance of enhanced fire prevention campaign in communities

IN keeping with his commitment to support vulnerable communities during times of crisis, the Malasakit Team of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go joined an outreach effort in Barangay Barihan in Malolos City, Bulacan, on Friday, May 3.

In a video message, Go reaffirmed that the government continues to improve its fire prevention efforts and safety awareness as the Bureau of Fire Protection undergoes a ten-year modernization program following the enactment of Republic Act No. 11589.

Under the Act, the said agency is mandated to improve the capabilities of the agency by implementing a ten-year modernization program, which includes recruiting more firefighters, acquiring new fire equipment, and developing specialized training, among others, to ensure that more fire victims get the necessary support they need from the government.

“Alam kong mahirap ang masunugan pero ayaw kong mawalan kayo ng pag-asa. Tandaan ninyo, ang gamit mabibili natin, magsumikap lang tayo. Ang pera kikitain natin ‘yan, magsipag lang tayong magtrabaho. Pero ang pera na kikitain natin, hindi mabibili ang buhay. A lost life is a lost life forever. Kaya mag-iingat tayo palagi,” underscored Go, who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassion for the poor.

In coordination with Barangay Captain Christopher Surio Bernardo, Go’s Malasakit Team provided immediate assistance, such as financial assistance shirts, vitamins, masks, grocery packs, snacks, water containers, and balls for basketball and volleyball, to five families.

As the health and well-being of fellow Filipinos remain as his priority, Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, also encouraged those with health concerns to visit any of the Malasakit Centers Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos City, Joni Villanueva General Hospital (JVGH) in Bocaue, Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital in Sta. Maria and Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose del Monte, where they can conveniently access medical assistance programs from the government.

First established in Cebu in 2018 and later institutionalized under Republic Act No. 11463, which Go principally sponsored and authored, the Malasakit Center program has assisted over ten million patients nationwide, and to date, there are now 164 centers established across the country.

“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon, serbisyo ‘yan kay Allah,” underscored Go.
