BEIJING wants a political settlement of the Korean settlement issue and condemned the United States for its military provocation.
According to China, reality has given answers to the American strategy following North Korea’s test launch of missiles this week.
Zhang Jun, China’s Permanent Representative to United Nations, underlined that his country has maintained a clear commitment to the idea of denuclearization on The peninsula as well as political settlement towards the ongoing issues through dialogue.
According to Zhang, the US has been constantly piling up sanctions against Pyongyang causing problems for the country.
Zhang said that America has become obsessed with placing sanctions on North Korea, which he said has placed a great deal of pressure on Pyongyang’s ability to survive.
“Especially since the beginning of this year, the United States and other countries have carried out joint military drills on the Peninsula at an unprecedented scale, conducting highly targeted and provocative exercise subjects. They issued the Washington Declaration to strengthen ‘extended deterrence,’ going further down the road of military pressure. Such moves will only aggravate tensions and make matters worse. Reality has given answers,” Zhang Jun, China’s Permanent Representative, UN said.
Zhang also encourages the US to avoid the hypocrisy of calling for unconditional dialogue without actually working toward it, and, instead take meaningful steps to respond to North Korea’s concerns.
To recall North Korea test-fired its latest model the Hwasongpho-18 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) which was dubbed its core weapon system by the country’s strategic force.
Following the launch, top diplomats of South Korea, Japan, and the US held 3-way talks on Friday to discuss ways to deal with Pyongyang’s actions.
In retaliation, South Korea imposed additional sanctions on North Korea by adding 4 people and 3 entities to its blacklist against Pyongyang.
