Colombia’s Nevado del Ruiz volcano active again

COLOMBIA’S Nevado del Ruiz, a volcano along the ‘Pacific Ring of Fire’ is reportedly having significant seismic activity again.

Colombia‘s Geological Service (SGC) warned that the volcano could possibly erupt within days or weeks.

Meanwhile, in a Twitter post,

“We have an orange alert due to the change in seismology at the Ruiz volcano. Mayors must prepare the protocols for this state of alert,” said Gustavo Petro, Columbia’s President.

It can be noted that 38 years ago, the said volcano erupted which led to the death of about 25,000 people.

The disaster in 1985 remains to be one of the worst natural disasters in Columbia’s history.
