Cyprus tourism revenue exceeds €1 billion in first half of 2023

RECORD-breaking tourist spending helped boost the national economy of Cyprus and pushed its tourism revenue to greater heights this year.

The latest data from the Statistical Service of Cyprus revealed that tourism revenue reached a staggering 1.09 billion euros in the first half of 2023.

This data represents a substantial 30.4% increase compared to last year.

On average, each tourist spent €791.03 in June 2023, showing an increase of about 5 billion euros in tourism spending per traveler compared to the same period last year.

Regarding spending by nationality, tourists from the United Kingdom became the source of the largest tourism market, followed by Israel and Poland.

Israeli travelers spent the enormous amount of these three nationalities, with an average of €124.72 per day.

With a population of about 1.2 million, Cyprus welcomes around 4 million tourist arrivals annually and is the world’s 40th most popular destination.

The island country located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea aims to be a top 20 global destination soon.
