THE 2024 Visayas Regional Scientific Meeting kicked off on May 27, 2024 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, bringing together brilliant minds to discuss the transformation of the Philippine food system. With a focus on equity, consumer health, and environmental sustainability, the event promises two days of insightful discussions and innovative solutions.
In his speech, Sec. Solidum emphasized, “Through the Regional Scientific Meetings and the upcoming Annual Scientific Meeting, we aim to develop science-based policy recommendations for different branches of government. This year’s meetings should magnify what is beyond farm production to address equity, consumer health, and environmental issues.”
The theme for this year, “Beyond Farm Productivity: Transforming the Philippine Food System to Address Equity, Consumer Health, and Environmental Issues,” underscores DOST’s commitment to providing solutions and opening opportunities. By addressing critical aspects of the food system, the meeting aims to foster a more equitable, healthy, and sustainable future for all.
