IN response to the devastating impact of Typhoon Kristine, the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region through the INA (Inang Naulila sa Anak) Healing Center launched the “Bangon Uragon” relief operation on November 9, 2024, to bring aid and hope to the affected communities in Bicol.
This initiative was made possible through the unwavering support of the DSWD-NCR Regional Director, Atty. Michael Joseph J. Lorico. The collaborative efforts of the Bahay Silungan Community Center (BSCC), General Administration and Support Division (GASD), Highway Patrol Group Region V (HPG V), and ALPS The Bus Inc. who worked hand-in-hand to deliver essential relief to typhoon-stricken families successfully.
This operation benefited 180 families from Barangay Agos, Polangui, Albay, and Barangay Sta. Cruz, Libon, Albay. Each family receives food packs, clothing, diapers, and other necessities, addressing their urgent needs as they rebuild their lives.
Relief packages were made possible through the generous contributions of the center’s staff, network, and private donors.
The INA Healing Center, which has supported typhoon survivors since 2020, has coordinated closely with local officials and community leaders to identify priority areas. BSCC and GASD supported the seamless distribution process, while HPG V ensured the safe delivery of goods to even the most remote locations. ALPS The Bus Inc. provided critical logistical assistance, transporting supplies from Manila to the Bicol region.
Beyond material aid, the DSWD-NCR INA Healing Center focused on the emotional recovery of survivors. Likewise, the staff of INA Healing Center offered psychosocial support, embodying the center’s holistic approach to community care.
As the region begins its journey to recovery, the INA Healing Center and its partners remain steadfast in their commitment to rebuilding lives and fostering resilience in the wake of Typhoon Kristine.
