DZAR Sonshine Radio programs honored by Philippine Coast Guard

THE Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (CGPAS) acknowledged the contributions to the community made by two programs from DZAR Sonshine Radio—”Makialam” and “Sonshine Newsblast.”

The CGPAS held a Media Appreciation Day on Thursday at the PCG National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila.

PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armand Balilo hailed DZAR Sonshine Radio and the entire SMNI for playing a significant role in delivering fair news, as the public’s trust in the Philippine Coast Guard has been preserved.

“Thank you for valuing the Coast Guard. Whenever there are controversies, you never fail to seek our side to ensure fair reporting. Thank you for the opportunities you’ve given us to safeguard the image of the organization. We are not perfect, but with your help, we’ve been able to preserve the public’s trust,” according to Rear Admiral Armand Balilo, Spokesperson, PCG.

Aside from DZAR Sonshine Radio and SMNI, the Philippine Coast Guard also thanked all their partners for spreading accurate information to the Filipinos.

“You know, with the plethora of events in the information space, especially the rampant fake news, this is our way of expressing our appreciation to our media partners for helping disseminate the right information to our fellow countrymen,” Balilo added.

DZAR Sonshine Radio and SMNI News expressed gratitude for the trust given by the Philippine Coast Guard, along with a promise to further enhance their mandate of delivering fair, and truthful news, for God and the country.

“First, we thank SMNI and DZAR for bringing out their best abilities in the field of media. That’s why we are here receiving this award. We also thank the Coast Guard Public Affairs Service for trusting us,” Franco Baranda, Anchor, SMNI stated.

“Makialam” is a commentary on crucial issues in the Philippines, offering in-depth analysis and perspective, while “Sonshine Newsblast” delivers timely and balanced news updates to keep Filipinos informed about what is truly happening in the country. Both programs are aired on AM radio station, DZAR Sonshine Radio.
