Emirati astronaut to return to earth on September 1

UNITED Arab Emirates (UAE) Astronaut Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi will leave the international space station and start his journey back to Earth on September 1 after successfully completing a historic space mission that lasted for six months.

Al Neyadi was part of the crew-6 mission by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and SpaceX that lifted off on March 2, 2023, at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The 42-year-old arrived at the orbiting outpost on March 3 to carry out the Arab world’s longest space mission.

On April 28, 2023, he became the first Arab astronaut to perform a spacewalk-a feat that lasted for six-and-a-half hours.

The crew contributed to hundreds of experiments and technology demonstrations that will benefit people on Earth and lay the groundwork for future human exploration.

The Emirati astronaut hosted a series of live calls from space, with interactive discussions participated by thousands of students, parents, heads of state, and space enthusiasts across the country.

Upon returning to earth, Al Neyadi will undergo medical rehabilitation and participate in a lot of activities in the UAE before going back to the US to continue his debrief.
