A total of 140 athletes from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will travel to the Chinese City of Hangzhou to participate in a multi-sport event scheduled from the 23rd of September to the 8th of October.
The UAE National Olympic Committee made the announcement wherein the director of the Technical and Sports Affairs Department spoke highly of the overall preparations for the Hangzhou Asian Games.
102 male and 38 female athletes will compete in events such as shooting, equestrian, athletics, swimming, cycling, archery, judo, taekwondo, karate, jiu-jitsu, fencing, boxing, wrestling, basketball, rugby, sailing, rowing, chess, golf, esports, and triathlon.
The UAE has secured seven gold, 16 silver, and 17 bronze medals in the Asian Games, including 13 awards in the 2018 edition.
The continental multi-sport event is held every fourth year among athletes from all over Asia. At least 45 nations will participate in the Games this year.
On July 8, the Olympic Council of Asia authorized up to 500 athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2023 Asian Games.
Approximately 12,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions will compete in 40 sports in nearly 500 events.
