Iran warns of pre-emptive action as Israel prepares for ground offensive

IRANIAN Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian warned Israel of a “pre-emptive action” as the Israeli military prepares for a major ground invasion.

Amirabdollahian noted that leaders of the resistance are capable of waging a long-term war with Israel if attacks in Gaza do not stop immediately.

Iran is the leader of the so-called “Axis of Resistance” which includes powerful militant groups in the region such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq.

On Saturday, the Iranian foreign minister demanded for Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza and warned that the war might expand to other parts of the Middle East if Hezbollah joins the battle.

With an estimated 150,000 rockets and missiles that can hit anywhere in Israel, Hezbollah is considered the Jewish state’s most serious immediate threat.

The militant group based in Lebanon previously said that they are ‘fully prepared’ to join the Hamas group in their fight against Israel as Iran warned its allies are also ready to respond.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military accused Iran of orchestrating attacks launched by Hezbollah along the Lebanon-Israel border which killed at least 13 people since Saturday.

The attacks took place as Israel planned to evacuate residents located near the Lebanese border to state-funded guesthouses.

A spokesman for Hamas said that the threat of an Israeli ground invasion of the blockaded Gaza Strip does not scare them.

Humanitarian groups on Monday pleaded for water, food, and fuel for dying generators for Gaza residents as Egypt’s border remains closed.

Some foreigners desperate to get out of Gaza were also stranded as Egypt’s Rafah border crossing was the only way out of the Palestinian enclave and the only way in to receive critical humanitarian supplies.
