IRAN’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian accused the United States of approving the airstrikes in Syria being blamed on Israel.
After visiting Oman, Amir-Abdollahian went to the Syrian capital of Damascus to inaugurate a new consulate earlier this week.
The Iranian foreign minister met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus and other high-ranking officials during his visit.
Amir-Abdollahian and al-Assad discussed the situation in Gaza and the recent visits by the leaders of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements to Iran.
Iran and Syria have blamed Israel for the airstrike at an Iranian consulate in Damascus last week but Israel refused to comment.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei renewed threats to take action against Israel after the airstrike killed some Iranian generals and senior military advisers. He also criticized the U.S. and the West for their involvement in the ongoing regional tensions
Israel has threatened to strike Iran and its nuclear facilities if the Islamic Republic launched an attack from its territory toward the Jewish state.
