Israeli Ambassador re-tells the good relations between Philippines and Israel

ISRAEL Ambassador Ilan Fluss re-told how the good relations between Israel and the Philippines were forged as the country celebrates its 75th National Day, the day on which Israel formally declared its re-establishment.

Israel will never forget the important role of the Philippines in its re-establishment 75 years ago following the Second World War and the Nazi Holocaust.

Israel disappeared from the world map after being conquered by the Romans under the rule of Emperor Vespasian, and the name Israel was changed to Palestina or Palestine.

According to Ambassador Ilan Fluss, the Philippines are the only country in Asia that voted in favor of the re-establishment of Israel after many years of the Jews losing their Holy Land.

“The second one was in 1947 when the Philippines supported the establishment of the State of Israel in the United Nations. The Philippines is the only nation in Asia supported on giving back Holy Land to the Jews,” said Ambassador Ilan Fluss, Israel.

The Israeli Ambassador also recalled how the Philippines opened its doors to Israel to accept 1,300 refugees during the Nazi Holocaust.

And because of this, Israel sees the Philippines as an ally, allowing Filipinos to enter the Holy Land without visas.

Israel celebrates 75th National Day

After years of lockdown and health restrictions implemented during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, just this year, the Israel Embassy in the Philippines had the chance to hold a grand Celebration for the 75th Year of their National Day.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the performance of Rhythmania, which first conducted outreach programs in orphanage homes and schools in Metro Manila to introduce Israeli Culture to the youths and the love of music.

Among the attendees were Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Senators Cynthia Villar and Chiz Escudero, and members of the diplomat corps, among others.

The Israeli Ambassador said that Filipinos can expect greater and deeper relations between the Philippines and Israel under the administration of President Marcos by implementing various programs in different sectors such as agriculture.
