Kuwait condemns Quran-burning incident in Denmark

THE foreign ministry of Kuwait condemned and denounced the burning of a copy of the Quran and the Turkish flag in the Danish Capital of Copenhagen.

The ministry warned that the latest provocative act by a group of extremists risks stirring the anger of Muslims worldwide.

Swedish-Danish politician and founder of the Anti-Islam Party Stram Kurs Rasmus Paludan initiated the burning of the Quran, a holy book sacred to Muslims.

The far-right politician performed in front of the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen on March 20.

To note, Paludan was the same person who burned a copy of the Quran in the Swedish Capital of Stockholm in January – an act that stirred global protests among Muslims worldwide and destroyed Sweden’s chances of being approved of its NATO accession by Turkiye at an earlier date.

The incident also earned strong condemnation from Muslim countries like Qatar, Morocco, Turkiye, and the Arab Parliament, calling the act “outrageous” and “barbaric,” as it happened during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Kuwait once again called on the international community and relevant governments to take swift action to counter hatred and extremism and to end repeated offenses against Muslim symbols and sanctities.
