Kuwait signs seven major agreements with China

KUWAITI Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Xi’s invitation to visit China to attend the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games.

The Crown Prince revealed that they have been preparing for the visit since Xi made the invitation during the Chinese Gulf Summit in Saudi Arabia in December of last year.

The seven agreements signed by the two leaders include the completion of the Mubarak Al-Abdullah Port project and the development of advanced housing cities in Kuwait as part of the government’s plans to offer housing care for citizens.

Both sides also signed agreements for projects including renewable energy, the creation of a low-carbon recycling green system, water treatment station infrastructure, as well as the creation of economic and free zones.

According to Sheikh Mishal, the meeting serves as an important investment as both countries plan to work on developing Kuwait based on the ‘first basics’ of the Kuwait 2035 Vision.

During the visit, Xi hailed Kuwait as the first Gulf country to establish relations with Beijing in 1971.

The Chinese President revealed that the Kuwait Fund was instrumental in providing loans to China in the 1980s.
