THE head of a terrorist cell based in Cyprus made a stunning revelation of plans to attack Israelis in the island nation after getting arrested in Iran.
Israel’s Mossad spy agency revealed they went as far as kidnapping Yousef Shahbazi Abbasalilo within Iranian territory as part of a special operation to thwart a planned attack against Israelis in Cyprus.
In a video confession by Abbasalilo, he revealed of being provided weapons by senior officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to carry out the attack including instructions to target Israeli businessmen in the small island nation.
In his interrogation, the Iranian mastermind recounted following a target for assassination and waiting for an opportunity to kill him, but the police learned of the plot, forcing him to fly back to Iran where he eventually got arrested.
His confession helped the Cypriot security forces to dismantle the rest of the terror cell which consists of Iranians, Pakistanis, and locals.
The spy agency said it had successfully foiled several attempts by Iran to kill Israelis in Cyprus, Turkey, Georgia, and Greece in recent years.
The report came as decades-long tensions between Israel and Iran intensifies, with the Islamic Republic accusing the Jewish state of killing Iranian officials and attacking some of its military facilities.
