NAGPALIWANAG si National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon na hindi pagsikil sa press freedom ang pag-restrict o pag-block sa mga aniya ay terrorist websites sa bansa.
Partikular na tinutukoy dito ng kalihim ay ang 2 online publications na Bulatlat at Pinoy Weekly.
Kamakailan ay inaprubahan ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ang request ni Esperon na i-restrict ng mga local Internet Service Providers ang access sa mga website na ito mula sa Pilipinas.
Paliwanag ni Esperon, malaya pa ring mailalathala ng mga websites na ito ang kanilang propaganda, pero hindi lang ito mapupuntahan o makikita ng mga viewers na nasa Pilipinas.
“Simply put, these websites through the order of the NTC dated June 08, 2022, will not be accessible to users within the bounds of the country’s Internet Service Providers. Bulatlat, Pinoy Weekly, and other websites stated in our letter to NTC are free to continue publishing articles and editorial pieces that fit their messaging lines, but they will not be accessible to internet users in this country,” pahayag ni Esperon.
Ayon kay Esperon, nauunawaan niya na maaring may mga naalarma sa pagkakasama ng mga online publications na “Bulatlat” at “Pinoy Weekly” sa listahan ng mga website na kanilang pina-restrict.
Pinaliwanag ni Esperon na ang mga naturang websites ay naglalathala ng panawagan para sa armadong rebolusyon na saklaw ng depinisyon ng terorismo sa Section 9, o Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 (R.A. 11479).
“Misinformation remains to be one of the nation’s greatest enemies; and is in fact a powerful tool used by the Communist Terrorist Group to sow enmity and discord—dividing the Filipino people and separating us from objectivity and the truth,” ani Esperon.
Naglalathala rin aniya ang mga ito ng impormasyon na sakop ng Section 10 ng Anti-Terrorism Act, patungkol sa Recruitment to and Membership in a Terrorist Organization.
“Though we recognize that websites like Bulatlat and Pinoy Weekly have been using their platforms to spread information on causes important to them, we cannot simply turn a blind eye to the fact that they have actively supported organizations affiliated with the CPP-NPA-NDF,” ayon kay Esperon.
Nagpasalamat naman si Esperon sa NTC sa agarang aksyon sa pag-block ng mga websites sa Pilipinas na konektado aniya sa mga teroristang komunista.
