A new UP Fencing Hall Multi-Purpose Building will rise to boost the athletic facilities of UP Diliman, Quezon City.
The Department of Public Works and Highways Quezon City 2nd District Engineering Office will take charge of the construction, cemented in a groundbreaking ceremony at UP Diliman, Quezon City on August 12, 2024. The project will replace the current UP Fencing Hall, as well as the strengthening, and conditioning room featuring several key components designed to enhance the university’s sporting infrastructure.
A 477-square-meter Fencing Hall, complete with five aluminum pistes and two large-sized toilets with individual locker rooms, a VIP lounge and the upgraded strengthening, and conditioning rooms on the second floor to benefit both student athletes and visitors alike. The event was attended by UP Diliman President Atty. Angelo A. Jimenez; UP Diliman Chancellor Atty. Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan; Dean of the College of Human Kinetics Prof. Francis Carlos B. Diaz; Hon. Richard I. Gomez, Congressman, 4th District of Leyte; DPWH Quezon City 2nd District Engineer Johnny L. Protesta, Jr.; and other officials and guests.
This significant investment in UP Diliman’s athletic facilities underscores the DPWH’s commitment in supporting educational institutions and promoting sports excellence.
