MULING iginiit ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. na paghihiganti ng mga terorista ang isa sa mga nakikitang anggulo ngayon ng kasundaluhan matapos ang nangyaring pambobomba sa Mindanao State University (MSU) sa Marawi City nitong Linggo Disyembre 3, 2023 na ikinasawi ng apat na indibidwal.
Ito ang inihayag ni Gen. Brawner sa isang interview matapos ang ginanap na Command Conference sa Marawi City, araw ng Lunes kasama ang mga senior military officers mula sa General Headquarters at top commanders ng Western Mindanao Command.
Matatandaan na bago pa man ito ay nauna nang nagbigay ng pahayag ang AFP chief sa isang pulong balitaan, araw ng Linggo.
Sinabi nito, dahil sa sunud-sunod na katagumpayan ng tropa ng militar sa Western Mindanao Command laban sa mga teroristang grupo kaya ngayon naghihiganti ang mga ito.
“During the presscon, I mentioned one of the possible reasons for this terroristic attack is that it is a retaliatory action against the recent gains or achievements that our security forces have achieved in the area,” pahayag ni Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff, AFP
Inihalimbawa nito ang naging operasyon ng militar sa Maguindanao noong Disyembre 1 na kung saan 11 miyembro ng local terrorist group.
“For instance, during the Dec. 1 ops in Maguindanao, we were able to neutralize several BIFF elements including the leader of that group,” dagdag ni Brawner.
Matapos nito noong Disyembre 2, isang leader ng Abu Sayyaf Group naman ang nasawi matapos ang isinagawang military operation sa Basilan.
At sa kaparehong araw naman ng pambobomba Disyembre 3 nasawi rin ang isang Maute ISIS sub-leader na si alias Lando.
“And then on Dec. 2 the terrorist leader Sawadjaan alias Mundi was also neutralized in the area of Basilan, and early morning of Dec. 3 same day that bombing happened, our 103rd brigade conducted an operation in Piagapo where they were able to neutralize the Maute ISIS sub-leader alias Lando we believe that could be one of the strong possibilities why this occurred,” ayon pa kay Brawner.
Sinabi pa ni Gen. Brawner na hindi rin isinasantabi ng AFP ang posibilidad na may kinalaman ang mga banyagang terorista sa pangyayari dahil meron aniyang ugnayan ang Daulah Islamiyah sa international terrorists groups.
“We all know that DI (Daulah Islamiyah) has also links with int’l groups so we are not discounting that side of the theory of that retaliatory action by the ISIS group,” aniya.
Samantala, nagpalabas din ng pahayag ang pamunuan ng MSU kaugnay sa insidente at nagpaabot ng pakikiramay sa mga naiwang pamilya ng mga biktima.
“To the families of to those we have lost in the tragedy, the MSU family and I offer our deepest sincerest condolences and along with you we pray that your departed love one rest in peace and be given the justice they so deserved,” wika ni Atty. Basari Mapupuno, President, MSU System.
Dagdag pa ni Atty. Basari Mapupuno, presidente ng MSU na ang nangyaring pambobomba sa paaralan ay hindi para sa mga Kristiyano kundi sa lahat ng mga estudyante, mga nagtatrabaho at mga nakatira sa MSU dahil wala aniyang pinipili ang terorismo.
“But in the midst of negative emotions going around at the moment, we must remember that terrorism recognizes no religion, no socio-economic background, what happened is not only attack from our Christian brothers and sisters, it is an attack on all who work and study and live in this campus,” ani Mapupuno.
Kabilang sa mga nasawi sa pambobomba ay sina Evangeline Aromin, Junrey Barbante, Riza Daniel, at Janine Arenas.
Sa ngayon patuloy pa na pinaghahanap ng mga awtoridad ang responsable sa pambobomba at patuloy rin ang pakikipag-ugnayan ng AFP sa PNP upang hindi na maulit ang naturang insidente.
“We will go after the perpetrators as soon as possible and use all resources at our disposal in order to make this happen. Coordinate closely with the Philippine National Police, work as one in order to address this issue and make sure that this will not happen again,” dagdag ni Brawner.
