PRESIDENT Bongbong Marcos Jr. deeply mourned the loss of six soldiers in a confrontation against the Dawlah Islamiyah (DI) in a remote village in Munai, Lanao del Norte, last week.

The Dawlah Islamiyah group is known to operate in communities along the boundary of Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur.

“We will continue what they fought for, and we will pursue those who oppose peace,” PBBM said.

In his latest vlog, Marcos also expressed his profound sadness about the incident, and that his government acknowledges the sacrifices and bravery shown by the six soldiers who died in the line of duty to ensure peace and order by fighting against terrorism.

“The sorrow we feel for the sacrifice of our six brave soldiers will be used as our strength to redouble our efforts to suppress terrorists who pose a threat to our citizens,” he added.

Six soldiers were killed, and four others from the 44th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army were wounded in the clash with the DI group in Barangay Ramain on February 18.

Meanwhile, the Philippine military has intensified manhunt operations against Dawlah Islamiyah while the 1st Infantry Division of the Army prepares full military honors for the six fallen soldiers.
