Saudi crown prince meets U.S. top diplomat over Gaza truce

SAUDI Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken for talks.

Blinken is on his fifth visit to the Middle East since the start of the war in Gaza.

The U.S. top diplomat hopes to secure a potential ceasefire deal and present post-war plans in the wake of ongoing regional tensions.

The Biden administration hopes the potential deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel will pave the way to convince the Jewish state of its plan to establish a Palestinian state.

During Blinken’s visit to Israel last month, he told Israeli leaders that Saudi Arabia wants to normalize relations with Israel after the Gaza war ends.

However, the Kingdom said it won’t agree to any deal unless Israel commits to the principle of a two-state solution.
