CONGRESSMAN Paolo Duterte urges Filipinos worldwide to remember and pray for former President Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte on his 100th day behind bars at the ICC detention facility in The Hague.
“Today marks 100 days since my father… was unjustly taken and held in detention in The Hague,” Paolo Duterte said in a public statement. “As a son, the pain is immeasurable. As a Filipino, the injustice is unbearable.” He urged the public to remember Duterte not only as a leader, but also as a father, friend, and patriot.
He emphasized: “He is not a criminal. He is a man who gave his life to serve this nation… walked the most difficult paths so that we may live in peace, free from fear, and with dignity.” Paolo stressed that the former president stood unwaveringly against the enemies of the Republic, and now “suffers alone — far from home, far from his people.”
“To every Filipino… let us not forget him. Let us pray for his strength, for his health, and for his freedom. Light a candle, say his name, and let your love be felt across the walls of that foreign prison.” He reminded the public of their shared belief in justice, truth, and unwavering loyalty to someone who fought for them.
Paolo concluded in the Visayan language: “Pa, bisan asa ka man ibutang sa Ginoo, you are not alone. We are with you — one family, one nation, one light.” This declaration serves as a rallying cry for national unity and compassion during his detention.
On this somber 100th day, Congressman Paolo Duterte pleads with Filipinos—at home and abroad—to rally behind his father. More than a political icon, Rodrigo Duterte is remembered as a patriarch, patriot, and steadfast defender of the Filipino people. Light a candle. Offer a prayer. Stand with him.
