Thailand, China pledge to deepen law enforcement cooperation

SENIOR officials from Thailand and China expressed willingness to deepen law enforcement cooperation on drug control and other areas during a recent meeting in Beijing.

Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong described Thailand as a good friend, a good neighbor, and a good partner as both countries aim to expand their partnership in various sectors.

Wang made a statement during a meeting with Thawee Sodsong, Thailand’s Justice Minister and Member of the Narcotics Control Board of Thailand.

The two officials met on Wednesday in Beijing.

The Chinese official expressed hope both countries will deepen cooperation on drug control, joint law-enforcement operations, trafficking, telecommunications, and internet fraud, as well as online gambling, among other things, and in accordance with the law.

The two officials held talks a few days a few days after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Thailand for a four-day state visit.

Wang told Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin that China always sees Thailand as a priority when it comes to diplomacy with neighboring countries.

The Chinese official noted that Beijing appreciates Thailand for upholding the one-China principle and believes the Southeast Asian nation will continue to support China’s cause for peaceful reunification.

Wang also met with Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Bangkok wherein both sides reached an agreement on deepening the China-Thailand community.

China hopes to increase investment and strengthen trade cooperation with Thailand. China is Thailand’s biggest source of foreign investment and largest trading partner.
