UAE sends more than 4,500 tonnes of aid to Gaza

MORE than 4,500 tonnes of food, medicine, and shelter materials were deployed from the UAE for Palestinians in war-torn Gaza.

The ship left Fujairah Port this past weekend and will arrive in about 15 days at Egypt’s Al Arish port.

Upon arrival at the Egyptian port, the aid will then be transported by trucks to the Rafah border with Gaza.

The aid was sent in preparation for Ramadan, the holiest month of the Islamic calendar.

This is the second ship to set sail from the UAE in the past two months as part of the Gallant Knight 3 operation.

Launched on November 5, 2023, Gallant Knight 3 was created to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza after the surprise attack by Hamas on October 7.

Under the campaign, Emirati officials ordered the establishment of desalination plants to pump about 1.2 million gallons of clean water per day for more than 600,000 Palestinians.

The Gulf nation also established a field hospital and treated more than 2,600 injured patients since it opened in December.

Additionally, the President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan pledged to treat 1,000 injured Palestinian children and another 1,000 cancer patients in UAE hospitals.

The UAE has delivered more than 15,075 tonnes of aid to the Palestinian people since the war in Gaza broke out.
